用於直接問句，詢問某人或某物所在的地點、發生的地點，或移動的目的地。
用法：問「在某地」常用「Where is／are＋主詞？」；問「去某地」常用「Where are／is＋主詞＋going？」。英文通常不需要另加表示「在」的介系詞。
Where is the nearest train station?

用於關係子句，指涉某個地點，並補充說明人在那裡做什麼、事情在那裡發生，或某物在那裡的情況。
用法：可用「the place where……」，但不要重複寫成「the place where……at」。正式寫作中，限定子句有時可用「that」或省略關係詞，但「where」最清楚地強調地點。

指某件事發展到某個情況、階段或程度，而不是真的指實際地點。
用法：此用法的「where」不是問地點，而是連接後面的子句來說明某種情況。可視語意譯為「在……情況下」或「到了……地步」。
We reached a point where we needed to ask the teacher for help.

不知道在哪裡；不確定……的去向或情況
用於間接問句，嵌在「知道」、「想知道」、「記得」、「告訴」等動詞之後，表示關於地點或去向的疑問。
用法：說「你知道車站在哪裡嗎？」要用「Do you know where the station is?」，不可把間接問句寫成「Do you know where is the station?」。
I forgot where I parked my scooter.
