指腦中出現的某個想法、看法或念頭，通常可數。
用法：常接介系詞 of 表示「關於某人或某事的想法」。have a thought 表示「想到一個念頭」，而 think 不可直接當作這個名詞使用。

指思考的行為或過程，尤其是仔細考量某件事時；此義通常不可數。

仔細考慮後，我們家決定在連假期間去臺南玩。

指對他人的需要、感受或福祉所表現出的關心與體貼。
用法：常見於 it is the thought that counts，意為重點在於心意，不在禮物的價值。若要表示「體貼」這項特質，通常用 thoughtfulness。
