一些；若干
用於複數可數名詞或不可數名詞前，表示數量不確定但存在的一部分人、事物或量。
用法：some 可修飾複數可數名詞與不可數名詞：some books、some water。名詞明確可省略，如 I need some.；但此用法須能從語境知道省略的是什麼。
We need some milk for breakfast tomorrow.
我們明天早餐需要一些牛奶。
There are some more chairs here.

用於複數名詞前，指某一部分特定的人或事物，而非全部。
用法：此義的 some 強調「不是全部」。後面通常接複數可數名詞；others 可代替「其他人或事物」，不必再加名詞。
Some students take the bus to school. Other students ride their bikes.
有些學生搭公車去上學。其他學生騎腳踏車。
Some of the dishes were too hot for my little brother.
有些菜對我的弟弟來說太辣了。

大約；大概
置於數字或數量前，表示估計值而非精確數字。
用法：some 通常放在數字前，如 some twenty minutes。口語中也常說 about twenty minutes 或 around twenty minutes。
It takes some twenty minutes to walk from the train station to the museum.
從火車站走到博物館大約需要二十分鐘。
Some thirty parents came to the school meeting.
大約有三十位家長來參加學校會議。

用於單數可數名詞前，指說話者不想說明、無法說明，或認為不重要的特定人、事物、時間或地點。
用法：此義的 some 後面可接單數可數名詞，如 some guy；也可接人名，如 some Mr. Chen。不要將它和表示「一些」的複數或不可數名詞用法混淆。
Some guy left his umbrella outside our apartment door.
有個不知道是誰的人把雨傘留在我們公寓門外。
For some reason, I could not open the school page this morning.
