原因；理由
用來說明某件事為何發生，或某人為何採取某種行動的原因或理由。
用法：reason 可數。通常說 a reason、many reasons，不可把它當不可數名詞使用。the reason is that... 後面通常接完整子句。
The reason we could not have the picnic was the typhoon.
我們沒辦法去野餐的原因是颱風。
My mother asked me for a reason for coming home late.
媽媽要我說明晚回家的理由。

充分理由；正當理由；根據
支持某項決定、看法或行動的充分而合理的依據。
用法：no reason 後面常接 to 加原形動詞，或接 for 加名詞／動名詞。have every reason to... 表示「完全有理由……」。
There is no reason to hurry; the next bus will come in ten minutes.
沒有理由要急；下一班公車十分鐘後會來。
The teacher had a good reason for changing the practice time.
老師有充分的理由改變練習時間。

理性；判斷力
以邏輯思考、控制情緒並作出明智判斷的能力。
用法：此義通常不可數，因此不說 a reason 來表示「一份理性」。常與冠詞 the 連用，如 use one's reason。
After talking with her teacher, the girl listened to reason and said sorry to her classmate.

推理；推論
根據已知事實與邏輯，逐步得出結論的思考過程。
用法：此義多為不可數，常指抽象的思考能力或推論過程。若指具體的論證內容，通常改用 argument 或 explanation。
In science class, students should give reasons for their answers.
在自然課，學生應該說出他們答案的理由。
