植物
通常會長出根、莖、葉，許多種類會開花或結果的生物；不包括動物。
用法：可數名詞。泛指某地的植物時，常用複數；指不可數的「植物群」時，較常用 vegetation。
My grandmother has many plants at home.
我奶奶家裡有很多植物。
This plant needs light but not too much water.
這株植物需要光，但不需要太多水。
2.
種植；栽種
把種子、幼苗或植株放入土裡，讓它生長。
用法：及物動詞。可接受詞為種子、樹木、花卉等，也可接受作物名稱。若強調栽種的地點，常接 in。
We plant a tree at school.
我們在學校種一棵樹。
My father planted a tree last spring.
我爸爸去年春天種了一棵樹。

工廠；廠房；發電廠
用來製造產品、處理原料或發電的大型工業設施。
用法：可數名詞。表示「工廠」時，通常比 factory 更著重整套生產或處理設施。
The business opened a new plant in the south of Taiwan.
這家企業在台灣南部開了一座新的工廠。
The power plant gives cities power.
這座發電廠供給城市電力。
4.
暗中安排的人；內應
被暗中安排進某個團體、活動或場合，以影響他人、蒐集資訊或製造假象的人。
用法：可數名詞。常與 undercover、police 或 company 等詞搭配，說明其身分或派遣者。
Some people thought the caller was a plant who got money to talk about the show.
有些人認為那位打電話的人是節目安排的托，拿錢來談這個節目。

穩穩放置；插下；站定
把某物放到特定位置並使其固定，或讓自己穩穩站在某處。
用法：及物動詞。plant oneself 後面常接地點，表示「穩穩地坐下或站在某處」。
The child planted his feet and would not leave the toy store.
那個孩子雙腳站穩，不肯離開玩具店。
She planted herself by the window to wait for the bus.
她在窗邊坐定，等公車來。
6.
暗中放置；栽贓
暗中把某物放在某處，尤其是為了誤導他人、嫁禍他人或製造假象。
用法：及物動詞。plant evidence 表示暗放證據；若要說明被栽贓的人，常用 plant evidence on someone。
The police planted the bag in his car.
警察把那個袋子放進他的車裡，假裝是他的。
A worker found a camera that someone had planted in the room.
一名工人在房間裡發現了一台有人偷偷放的相機。
