泛指一群人，或某個地方、社會中的人；也可用來指不特定的多數人。
用法：作複數名詞使用，通常搭配複數動詞：people are。表示「很多人」時，常可直接用 people，不必加 some 或 many。

民族；國民；族群
指具有共同歷史、文化、語言或國家的民族、國民或族群。
用法：此義的 people 可以是單數，前面通常要加 a，且動詞可用單數：The Taiwanese people is／are。實際寫作中，指國民時通常更自然地用複數動詞。peoples 指多個不同民族或族群。
The museum tells people about Taiwan's first people and their way of life.
這間博物館向人們介紹台灣原住民族和他們的生活方式。
The two peoples have been friends for a long time.
這兩個民族長久以來一直是朋友。

家人；親近的人；同一圈子的人
指某人的家人、親屬，或與其有共同背景、身分或興趣的一群人。
用法：通常搭配所有格：my people、her people。my people 可依上下文指「我的家人」或「和我同一類、同一群的人」。
I will ask my people if anyone can pick you up at the station.
我會問我的人，看有沒有人可以到車站接你。
At the club, she finally felt she had found people like her.
在這個社團裡，她終於覺得自己找到了和她一樣的人。

・people 已經是 person 最常用的複數形式，不能說 two persons，除非是法律、公告等正式語境。
