經過；越過
表示移動者從某地點旁邊或某個界線越過，且繼續往前。
用法：比較「公車開過去了」與「公車開過學校」。前者用副詞；後者後面有地點名詞，使用介系詞。

過去的；先前的；以前的
指現在以前發生、存在或屬於某段時間的事物；也可指某人以前擔任過、如今已不再擔任的身分或職位。
用法：作「以前的」時通常置於名詞前，如「過去的經驗」。作「前任的」時，多用於職稱或角色前，如「前任校長」。
My uncle is a past leader of our group.

The teacher asked us to write about a past experience that changed us.

過去；往昔
指現在以前的整段時間，或某人、某地過去的經歷與歷史。
用法：最常用搭配是「在過去」與「讓過去成為過去」。談論某人的經歷時，可說「某人的過去」。
In the past, my family visited my mother's and father's parents every New Year.
以前，每年過年，我的家人都會去拜訪外公外婆和爺爺奶奶。

經過；越過；在……的另一邊
表示移動路線經過某個地點，或某事物位於某個地點、界線或範圍的另一邊。
用法：「經過某地」可說「走過某地」。不要把它和動詞「通過」混用；此義的詞本身不是動詞。
Walk past the train station, and you will see the library on your left.
走過火車站後，你會在左手邊看到圖書館。
Our bus went past the night market without stopping.
我們搭的公車經過夜市時沒有停靠。

晚於；超過；在……之後
表示時間已超過某個時刻、日期或期限；也可表示數量、年齡或程度超出某個界線。
用法：可說「超過晚上九點」或「超過截止日」。表示分鐘時，「八點十分」可說「eight ten」，而「ten past eight」在英式英語尤其常見；美式英語也會使用。
Please don't call me past 8:00.
請不要在八點過後打電話給我。
It was past twelve o’clock when we finally got home from the family dinner.

6.
過了……階段而不再適合；超出……程度
表示某人或某事已超過某個階段、狀態或可能性，因此某件事不再適用或不再可能。
用法：常接名詞或動名詞，如「超過修復的可能」與「過了熬夜還不累的年紀」。這種用法較強調界線已被跨越。
The old computer is past fixing, so my family decided to get a new one.
那台舊電腦已經沒辦法修好了，所以我家人決定買一台新的。
He is past the age when his parents need to tell him to do his homework.
