指需要處理的問題，或某人、某物出現不正常情況。常用於詢問「怎麼了？」的句型中。
用法：通常用單數且前面加 the：What's the matter?；也可說 the matter with my phone。
What's the matter? You look sad after school.
怎麼了？你放學後看起來很難過。

事情；事務；議題
指值得討論、決定或處理的一件事，常用於學校、工作、家庭或公共事務的情境。
