居住；住在
在某地長期或目前居住，把該地當作生活的主要所在地。
用法：通常是不及物動詞，常接介系詞 in、at、with 等。問住址時常說 live in 加城市或國家；較小的地點也可用 live at 加完整地址。
My cousin lives in a big city and takes the train to the next city every weekend.
我表哥住在一個大城市，每個週末搭火車去下一個城市。

活著；生存
具有生命，尚未死亡。
用法：通常是不及物動詞。表示「活到某個年齡」時，用 live to 加年齡，或 live to be 加年齡。
Some fish can live for 100 years.

Her great-grandmother lived to be ninety-eight.
她的曾祖母活到九十八歲。

活的；有生命的
形容仍有生命的人、動物、植物或用作食物、餌料的生物。
用法：一般說 The fish is alive，不說 The fish is live。live fish 則是「活魚」。

過著……的生活；以……方式生活
指一個人的生活方式、經歷或所過的日子。
用法：此義中可接受受詞，最常見的受詞是 life。live one's dream 指「實現夢想」，不是單純「夢到」。
She works hard to live in a small house.
她努力工作，住在一間小房子裡。
My uncle lives in a quiet town.
我叔叔住在一個安靜的小鎮。

經歷；熬過
親身經歷某段時期或事件，尤其是困難、重要或令人難忘的事。
用法：live through 是不可分的片語動詞，後面接所經歷的事件或時期。
My mother's parents and my father's parents lived through a big earthquake when they were young.
我媽媽的父母和我爸爸的父母年輕時經歷過一場大地震。
The family lived in a small home for many months after the big rain.
那家人在大雨後住在一個小家裡好幾個月。
6.
現場進行的；即時播出的
形容活動正在進行，或節目在發生當下直接播出，而非事先錄製。
用法：常放在名詞前，如 live broadcast；也可放在 be 動詞後，如 The program is live。
The school will have a live meeting for parents this evening.
學校今天傍晚會為家長舉行現場會議。
We watched the game live after dinner.
晚餐後，我們現場看了比賽。
