用法：可直接接受詞：gather＋受詞。gather up 也可表示「把零散的東西收攏」，其中受詞可放在 gather 和 up 之間。

用法：gather 可用於採摘較多或散布各處的作物；pick 也常用於採單一或少量的水果、花朵。

根據已知的資訊、他人的話或現況，推想某事為真。
用法：常接 that 子句，也可用 I gather 作插入語。這個用法不表示實際「收集」物品。
From her message, we gathered that she would arrive late.

用法：此義可作及物或不及物動詞：The campaign gathered support；The train gathered speed。
