落下；掉下
指人或物體從較高處往下落，通常是不小心造成的。
用法：The phone dropped onto the floor. 表示手機掉到地板上。
My phone dropped on the floor when I got off the bus.
我下公車時，手機掉到地板上。
2.
放手使……落下；丟下
指鬆手或不再拿著某物，讓它掉下去；不一定表示用力丟擲。
用法：drop something 與 let something fall 意思相近；不要和 throw 混用，後者通常表示刻意用力丟。
Do not drop the glass when you wash the dishes.
你洗碗時，不要把玻璃杯弄掉了。

下降；減少；降低
指數量、程度、價格、溫度、成績或地位變低或變少。
用法：不及物：The temperature dropped. 及物：The store dropped the price.
The heat dropped quickly after the rain started.
雨開始下之後，氣溫很快下降了。
4.
停止；放棄；不再做
指不再進行某項活動、不再討論某件事，或停止使用某物或服務。
用法：drop 後面直接接受詞，不用加 from。說「退選一門課」可說 drop a class。
I decided to drop the class because I had to work at the same time.
我決定退選這門課，因為我必須在同一時間工作。
5.
略去；刪除；不再列入
指從清單、計畫、名單、產品或內容中移除某項目，不再保留或提及。
用法：drop someone from a team 指把某人從隊伍名單中除名；drop an item from a list 指刪除一個項目。
The club dropped two classes from this year’s plan.
這個社團從今年的計畫中刪掉了兩堂課。
6.
隨口提起；透露
指在談話中不經意地提到資訊、名字或暗示，也可指刻意透露消息。
用法：drop a hint 後面通常接 about 或 that 子句來補充暗示的內容。
She dropped a word about wanting a new bag.
她透露了想要一個新包包。
