父母的姊妹，或叔叔、伯伯、舅舅、姨丈等男性親屬的妻子。英語通常不會像中文一樣，依父系、母系或年齡細分稱呼。
用法：可數名詞。談自己的親屬時，通常說 my aunt；第一次提到特定一位時可說 an aunt。作為稱呼加在人名前時，通常大寫：Aunt Linda。
My aunt lives in Taiwan, so we see her at New Year.
我阿姨住在臺灣，所以我們在新年時去看她。

阿姨；對年長女性的親切稱呼
在某些家庭或社群中，用來親切稱呼不是親屬、但年紀較長的女性，尤其是父母的朋友或熟識的長輩。
用法：作為稱呼時常置於名字前並大寫，例如 Aunt Maria。若不是該社群或家庭慣用的稱呼，通常以 Ms. 加姓氏，或直接依對方偏好的稱呼較合適。
My mom’s best friend is Aunt Maria, but she is not my aunt.
我媽媽最好的朋友是瑪麗亞阿姨，但她不是我的阿姨。
The children asked their aunt to eat dinner with them.
